From the depths of Urbana, IL Bones Jugs has emerged as the premier xylophone driven roots Americana act in the country. With bones, jug, xylophone, kazoos, resonator guitar, 6-string banjo, upright bass, trap kit, horns, washboard and a medley of knick-knacks and noise makers Bones Jugs conjures up their eclectic acoustic sound. It’s a 21st century spin on early American music, that includes, but is not limited to, ragtime, Dixieland, jug band, bluegrass, blues, string band, skiffle, spasm, swing and more. Whether it is with original songs, with hidden gems of the written or recorded archives, or with their own take on modern music, Bones Jugs places their unique stamp on everything they play. If you’re looking for a sound that you’ve heard around town, Bones Jugs may let you down, if you expect the unexpected you’ll get just what you expected! http://www.bonesjugs.com/

Sones de Mexico Ensemble made its first public appearance in 1994 at an art gallery in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, commemorating the death of Mexican land-rights revolution hero Emiliano Zapata. Chicago, with its well-known patronage for the arts, a one-hundred-year-old history of Mexican immigration and the second-largest Mexican immigrant population in the U.S., was fertile ground for the ensemble’s development. Sones de México Ensemble is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote a greater appreciation of Mexican traditional music through world-class performance and education programs.Through the years, the ensemble has amassed a large collection of folk musical instruments representative of Mexico’s diverse local cultures and a team of multi-instrumentalist musicians. Their diverse repertoire, rich in colors, textures and rhythms demonstrates that there is more to Mexican music than mariachi. Their concerts entertain the senses and illustrate the mind. Today, the ensemble has toured extensively, and through its own non-profit organization has taught thousands of school children and adults across the nation about the riches of Mexican music, dance and culture. http://sonesdemexico.com/
