St. Patrick Society Grand Parade XXXIV

The St. Patrick Society presents Grand Parade XXXIV on Saturday, March 16, 2019. Iowa-bound lanes of the Master Sgt.Talbot / Centennial Bridge will be closed from 11AM to app. 1:30PM on parade day. Traffic across the river will alternate in the Illinois-bound lanes under police escort. Grand Parade day commences with 10:00AM Mass at St. Mary’s Church, 2208 4th Avenue in Rock Island.

The nation’s only bi-state St. Patrick’s parade will start promptly at11:30AM at the corner of 4th Avenue and 23rd Street in Rock Island, Illinois. The parade will travel through downtown Rock Island, across the Mississippi River via the Talbot / Centennial Bridge to W. Third Street and proceed east through downtown Davenport, Iowa along a route to the RiverCenter at E. Third and Perry Streets. The Post-Parade Bash will take place at the RiverCenter from 1-4PM. Admission is by SPS membership. Memberships can be purchased at the door; 16 and under free. There will be a handicapped-accessible viewing area for the parade at the RiverCenter.

One day earlier, Friday March 15, Irish Mother of the Year Chris McCormick Pries of Bettendorf and Grand Marshal Michael Kevin Fennelly of Moline will be introduced at the Gathering of the Clan Luncheon at the RiverCenter. For Luncheon reservations contact: vicquinn2016@gmail.com.

The St. Patrick Society and River Bend Foodbank are teaming up once again to fight hunger in the Quad Cities. On Saturday, March 16, River Bend will march ahead of the Grand Parade collecting monetary donations with the goal of closing the meal gap in our community by 2025. $1 will provide 5 meals and 97 cents of every dollar you donate goes back into Foodbank programs. Watch for the River Bend Foodbank truck ahead of the Grand Parade to make your donation. Together we can solve hunger.™
