Fast Moving Snow Will Create Hazardous Travel Conditions..

  • A fast moving storm system will spread snow across eastern Iowa into west central and northwest Illinois early this afternoon.
  • The rapid onset of moderate to heavy snow will result in roadways quickly becoming slick and snow covered.
  • Motorists should expect visibilities to be reduced to less than one quarter mile at times at times.
  • Snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches will be possible before 3 pm.

These conditions have already resulted in numerous accidents on highways and interstates in central Iowa and eastern Iowa.

Be prepared for rapidly changing travel conditions. Roads will quickly become slick and hazardous. Slow down and allow extra time.

‪....and 15 minutes later, already a decent dusting on the ground with snow still falling. Use caution out there over the next few hours. Numerous accidents already being reported to our west!
