The upcoming U.S, leg of the "No Filter" Tour which kicks off in April for the Rolling Stones ought to feel different for Keith Richards. In a new interview, the rocker reveals that he’s been cutting back on drinking for the past year or so.
Richards says besides the occasional glass of wine or beer, he’s “fed up” with drinking. “It was time to quit, just like all the other stuff,” he explains.
Bandmate Ronnie Wood approves. Wood, who got sober back in 2010, saying that Richards has been “a pleasure to work with” since the lifestyle change.
Being sober (for the most part) has apparently had a positive effect on their live shows, too. According to Richards, their early 2018 concerts were “interesting to play,” but Woods is giving them some more credit. “We’re weaving [guitar parts] a lot more conscientiously now,” he notes. “We’re in our seventies, but we’re still rocking like we’re 40-year-olds, you know?”
