Late April Winter Storm Warning Issued For Northern QCA

WQAD Snowfall Tracker from WQAD.com

It may be just a few days before we jump into the month of May, but Mother Nature has a few tricks up her sleeve as a potent storm system impacts the Quad Cities on Saturday bringing heavy rains, gusty winds, and heavy snow.

A Winter Storm WARNING has been issued until 10 pm Saturday night for

  • Carroll and Jo Daviess Counties in Illinois
  • Jackson County in Iowa

Rain Saturday morning will quickly change over to all snow, heavy at times, across these areas. Accumulation on grassy surfaces is likely.

The biggest impact for the metro Quad Cities will be freezing temperatures tonight. Snow will likely appear, too, but to a minimal degree.

Forecast from NWS of the Quad Cities for Metro:

Today

Tonight

Rain and snow likely before 9pm, then a chance of snow between 9pm and 10pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 30. Blustery, with a north wind 15 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
