See Metallica's Robert Trujillo, Kirk Hammett Cover Iron Maiden's "Killers"

Metallica's Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett are getting ready for their classic covers concert coming up later this month, by using their mid-set doodle time to play some material that's a bit more in their wheelhouse.

During a London concert in mid-June, the bassist and lead guitarist took the stage for their nightly cover and tackled the early-Iron Maiden classic "Killers."

After being introduced by Metallica front man James Hetfield — who added his compliments to Hammett's "Greeny" Les Paul (formerly owned by Fleetwood Mac co-founder Peter Green and then Irish rock legend Gary Moore) — Trujillo and Hammett kicked off their bass and guitar-led version of the Paul Di'Anno-sung track.

It seemed to take the crowd a minute to figure out what song they were hearing — "Killers" isn't even close to the No. 1 most-covered Iron Maiden track — but the spot went undoubtedly better than some of the duo's other tributes of note.

When Trujillo and Hammett wrap up this current tour with Metallica, they will fly to Ontario, Canada, where they will connect with former Ugly Kid Joe singer Whitfield Crane and former Queens of the Stone Age drummer Joey Castillo for a classic covers show at Cosmopolitan Music Hall at Cosmo Music on July 26.

The band is expected to play music by the likes of AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Billy Idol.

VIP tickets are sold out, but general admission tickets remain.
