Eddie Vedder Got Into The Christmas Spirit This Weekend

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder helped make it a very Merry Christmas for one family Maryland. Earlier this month Tyshika Britten shared with folks on Craigslist that she and her family of five boys and a baby girl were facing eviction from their home, and that her kids probably wouldn’t be getting Christmas gifts this year. “I’m such a failure right now,” she wrote. “Please help me.”

Well, many people did help. The “Washington Post” wrote an article about her message, which quickly went viral, with people sending gifts like a PlayStation and even a puppy to the family.

But the big shock came when the received a check for $10,000 from Vedder. “I was just so moved by the story and what this mother did for her children,” Vedder told the “Washington Post.” “I thought those kids must be so proud of their mother for reaching out. That takes a lot of courage.”

The rocker adds that he can empathize with the family’s plight, noting “There were years there were toys from Santa, but they were used and they came from garage sales and they didn’t always work.” And while he knows the check doesn’t solve all of the family’s problems, he’s hoping it will provide “a tourniquet” to help them get on the path to some normalcy.
