There are some weird ice cream flavors out there, but if you thought ghost pepper or lobster were strange choices for ice cream, get ready for guinea pig. An ice cream vendor in Ecuador is making this flavor using the flesh of the animals. Guinea pig meat is common there and in other South American countries, where it’s known as “cuy,” but María del Carmen Pilapaña, who runs a small stall near the capital of Quito, says her family thought she was crazy when she came up with the idea for this frozen treat. She makes the ice cream by cooking down the guinea pig’s meat and creating a pate with it, then blending it in with milk or cream.
