Want To Go To The Super Bowl? Be Prepared To Pay A LOT!

Even though my Packers aren't in it, I'm looking forward to the "Big Game" (Super Bowl, for those of you playing along at home). The 49ers were even worse than my Packers last season...and it'd be nice if the Chiefs won so that Andy Reid could finally get that ring. But how much will it cost to go?

Ticket brokers in the secondary market say interest in this year’s Super Bowl has led to a 20% higher rate of ticket sales than anyone anticipated. This allafterthe Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49’ers were solidified as conference champs. There a few of reasons as to why this game has become a hotter ticket than normal.

  • Neither of the two teams are the New England Patriots, and with them went the sense of predictability and boredom.
  • Neither the Chiefs nor Niners have won a Super Bowl recently. The last time San Francisco were champs was in 1995, and for the Chiefs it’s been since 1969.
  • But also...there’s the size of Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium. It’s got a capacity of 65,326...making it relatively small for a Super Bowl Venue.

\Brokers say tickets sales, at this point, appear to be a 50/50 split between Chiefs fans and 49’ers faithful. Vivid Seats says the average ticket is currently going for $5,741, and a base price of $4,342 just to get in the door. SeatGeek says their average ticket is going for $6,785.
